Manila, 8 April 2016 – NEC Philippines, Inc. (“NEC Philippines”) participated in the NEC World Children’s Nature Club, held in Baguio City, Philippines on 19 - 21 March.

The 3-day program was joined by 12 children who came from Cordillera, the northern region of Philippines, with some travelling as long as 8 hours to reach the venue. NEC presented a short lecture at the start of the program to provide the children with information about their local environment and show how its business operations, together with activities like NEC World Children’s Nature Club, can contribute back to the community.

Other activities such as trekking near Baguio’s Camp John Hay and playing games related to the theme of nature allowed the children to discover and gain more awareness about their local surroundings.

NEC members assisted in organizing a video conference for the children where they had fun and enjoyed interacting with participants from other locations, including China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, and Taiwan. It was a fine example of how IT and communications technologies can promote cross-cultural exchange of ideas and information by bridging people across geographies.

NEC World Children's Nature Club, started in 2008, is held every year to help children develop an awareness of the natural environment and a global perspective. This year, the program provided children from China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines and Taiwan with an opportunity to exchange ideas and information using IT and communications technologies.
