NEC Foundation, Inc. is a private non-stock, non-profit Filipino corporation dedicated to assist in the education of Filipinos in the areas of Computers and Communications through scholarships. It was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on 15th September 1986, in the aftermath of the peaceful EDSA Revolution. Prior to the Foundation’s establishment, there had been talks about the grant between NEC and the University of the Philippines. NEC believed that an investment in human capital in terms of nationwide scholarships in technology-based academic programs for financially needy students can assist in the rebuilding and development of the economy.

Its mission is to provide B.S., M.S. and PhD. scholarships to academically deserving and financially needy Filipino students for studies in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering (major in Computers or Communications) and similar degree programs.

NEC Foundation in the Philippines has provided scholarship grants to more than 300 students from public and private schools in the Philippines taking ICT-related courses for over 30 years. NEC Foundation has continued to help provide quality education to academically deserving and financially challenged Filipino students to attain its goal of providing accessible quality engineering and computer education, which will in turn help in the development of the Philippine economy.
